Texas Toms is a fast food joint in northeast Kansas City that leans into generous portions and straightforward comfort food with a Southern twist. Located on Parvin Road, this spot has a cozy, no-frills vibe that’s anchored by upbeat 80’s music playing in the background, giving it a casual, slightly retro energy that fits well with its menu offering.

What stands out here is the hearty size of the dishes — you won’t leave hungry. The menu features classic fast food staples like cheeseburgers, crispy French fries, and tater tots, alongside Southern favorites such as fried chicken, lemon pepper wings, and catfish combos. There’s a notable local draw for their fried options, including chicken tenders and fish baskets, that hit the mark for anyone chasing that juicy, freshly fried texture. The portions are big enough to share or save some for later, which is a draw for budget-conscious visitors or those with a healthy appetite.

This place works well for casual lunch or dinner visits where the focus is on filling up with familiar flavors served quickly. It’s a spot that attracts locals craving comforting, fried food without the fuss of a formal dining experience. While seating can be limited due to ongoing construction, Texas Toms maintains a clean and welcoming interior that keeps the focus on the food and easy-going atmosphere. The occasional fly or bug is a minor inconvenience in an otherwise tidy setting.

If you’re in the mood for a mix of American fast food and Southern-style dishes, Texas Toms’ variety—from jalapeño-spiced chicken tenders to crispy catfish plates—makes it a reliable choice. It’s best timed for mealtimes when you want to dive into big flavors and bigger portions without breaking the bank.

Overall, Texas Toms is a practical stop for those who appreciate straightforward, filling fast food with a touch of Southern comfort, set to a soundtrack that lightly nods to local nostalgia.

The food was so good, and the price is so much less than what you would expect! The portions are very large. We will definitely come back next time we are in KC! They are doing some construction, so seating is limited right now.

Texas Toms is the best restaurant I've ever been to! The fries were warm and fresh with just the right crisp. The fried chicken was so JUICY!! And the fish was so tasty! The Vanilla ice cream Shake was sweet and delicious! The Beef Gyro is also great Texas toms is awesome!

Portion size was extra, extra large for what I paid. I ordered the Buckeroo, which consisted of a full basket of fries, 4 onion rings, a cheeseburger, a hard shell taco, and a fried burrito. The inside is very clean (it’s also new) and the ambience was of 80’s music. I thoroughly enjoyed the music! I did see a few flies flying around and one bug on the floor. I’m not an entomologist, so I will let the pictures do the talking. Finally, the restrooms were clean and maintained. I spent $12.20 with tax on 10-14-2025 at 10:30-ish in the morning.

This place pleasantly surprised my husband & I! We tried it for the first time because I was craving mashed potatoes and biscuits. We decided to avoid KFC since their quality has gone downhill. Turns out Texas Tom’s is even better than KFC! The food was fresh and tasty, nice sized portions, and good prices! Oh and we are tater tot snobs and theirs even impressed us lol

Honestly, I didn’t expect the best quality at 1AM on a Saturday night. But I sure was wrong about Texas Toms! My wife got the Mac and cheese with a supreme taco and I got the 2 for 1 double cheeseburger and Philly cheesesteak, all for under $20. All of our food was hot and tasted incredible for the price we paid. I highly recommend!

Trying to decide where to pick up my dinner. I wanted fried chicken and catfish. Churches-no. Fish? place was too far. I remembered Texas Toms less than a mile away. Looked at their menu online. I couldn't order fast enough. The food looks great and has big pieces. It tastes so good!!! Service is excellent. They had a long drive thru line too. Glad I came inside. The Catfish is Amazing, Light and Tasty. NO heavy breading greasy taste. I Will Be Back Every Soon
